Digital Dice with 7-Segment Displays
Press a button and two dice faces appear — no microcontroller needed, just a 555 timer and counters.

Overview
An NE555 clocks a pair of decade counters; each counter drives one 7-segment display and rolls stop when the button releases the clock.
Build Steps
Build the clock
555 in astable mode, around 10 Hz, with a push button that stops the clock while held.
Add the counters
Two CD4017 decade counters clocked from the 555; each Q output drives one segment pattern through resistors.
Display the pips
Wire the 7-segment digits through 220 Ω resistors and blank the display while rolling.
Add a roller
Hold to spin, release to freeze on a random count between 1 and 6.
